Student Orientation at Broadview

At  Broadview University (formerly Utah Career College), we offer an in-depth orientation to online learning. In fact, we don’t just make it available. We require it! We want all students to be ready to learn from the first day. You will learn Blackboard, the software package that we use to manage our online programs. When you start your online classes, you will be ready to study. You won’t have to solve hardware and software problems when you should be learning.

Contact Broadview University to find out more about our required orientation for online learners. Call us at 877-699-8889.

Introduction to Blackboard

During your Blackboard orientation, you will explore the different features of the software. One of the reasons Blackboard is so successful worldwide is that it provides all the elements you expect to find in a college class, such as the following:

  • Syllabus
  • Explanation of class expectations
  • Grading criteria
  • Unit content and assignments
  • Class discussions
  • Grades
  • Instructor biographies
  • Class announcements
  • Quizzes and tests

Still skeptical? Try Blackboard for yourself. Visit our demonstration site and log in as uccguest. Enter uccguest as the password, and you will be ready to explore.

Orientation goals

Although the primary goal of orientation is to introduce students to Blackboard, we also want to ensure that students have the right hardware and operating systems. The orientation process allows students to verify their computer set-ups. Our online help desk can assist if you have questions and help you configure your software correctly so that you are ready to start learning.

Don’t hesitate to ask for assistance

If you have trouble at any time, whether during the required orientation or once you’ve started your online classes, our help desk is there to help you. It is staffed many hours each week by our experienced and friendly specialists. They can be reached by phone, e-mail or webmail.

Other assistance

In addition to helping you become an effective online learner, we provide orientations and online tutorials to other resources that you will use during your studies. Our online library has tutorials and FAQs. Our help desk offers tutorials and reports on known issues for all the applications that our students and faculty use, including Word, Outlook and other software.
