This allows us to provide students with high-quality assistance with any problem related to technology – computers, telephones and access to the Internet. How do I contact the help desk?
A promise of assistance is not helpful if you can’t get in touch with the help desk when you need it. At Broadview, a student can contact our knowledgeable staff using whichever method works best – telephone, e-mail, web or fax.
What does a help desk do?
Online tutorials
In addition to providing students with individual assistance with computer problems and software issues, our help desk staff designs online tutorials that address common concerns. These tutorials cover almost every software package that students are likely to encounter while studying online at Broadview University. From questions about Word and Windows to problems with spyware and viruses, our help desk has developed tutorials or FAQs.
List of links
Our help desk has a web site that lists all the tutorials and FAQs available. It also provides a convenient list of links to common student Internet destinations. The student portal allows students to check progress towards their degrees, pay tuition bills and register for courses. Students can login to their e-mail accounts from this web site. They can also find a convenient link to the current course schedule.
Online security
The help desk web site also lists security problems — viruses and spyware — and gives students the tools to remove or counteract these threats to the security of their computers. If you believe your computer has been infected by a virus and you need help determining what to do, the help desk staff can advise you.
Other sources of help
An important feature of online study at Broadview University is our online library. We offer an extensive collection of online databases, reference works, books, and technical and professional journals. We have lists of recommended Web sites, research help and an online librarian available to students via e-mail, IM or phone. And we have interactive tutorials that introduce you to the resources and teach you how to use them.
Our Career Services department has a website that provides students with information about job fairs and job postings. It also has tutorials on resume writing, interviewing and assembling a list of references and provides jobseekers with lists of helpful links to external websites,
