Career Development at Broadview

As a school focused on training students for rewarding careers, we make sure that each graduate has the tools he or she needs to find that first position after college. At Broadview University (formerly Utah Career College), each student completes a Career Development course that gives students the information and training they need for successful job searches. To learn more about our support system that helps students build their careers, contact Broadview University. Call us at 877-609-8889.

Learn how to find a job

The conventional wisdom says that job searching is a full-time job. Be prepared for it with our Career Development class. You will know what to do, how to get information and how to present yourself so that potential employers have a full picture of everything you could bring to their organizations. This class is an investment of time that pays off. Not only will you be a professional in your field, you will have a professional approach to your job search. Employers notice that.

Our career development class

Some of the material we cover in our Career Development class includes:

  • Resume writing. There are good resumes and not-so-good resumes. Be sure that yours is one of the best.
  • Cover letters. Cover letters can be just as important as your resume. Learn how to distill your resume into a nicely written letter that tells the reader why he or she should hire you.
  • Thank you letters. After a job interview, write a thank-you letter. This is your opportunity to thank the interviewer for considering you and to reinforce points you made in the interview.
  • How to find jobs. You will learn how to research vacancies in your field.
  • Interviewing. We do mock interviews so that when the real thing comes around, you’ll be prepared. Sometimes we even schedule informational interviews with real employers – and some of our students have been hired, even though they were not actually applying for a job.

Other career services

Our career services staff helps students in other ways. We maintain a job bank of vacancies. We arrange for job fairs on-campus. We reach out to potential employers regularly so that they know what our students have to offer. We even provide one-on-one coaching for students who need it. Students can take advantage of these services while they are in school (some get part-time jobs that turn into full time positions after graduation) and after they graduate.

A career college cannot be successful unless its students actually find positions in their chosen fields. When our students succeed, we have done our job. To find out more about Broadview University and the ways we support the development of students’ careers, contact us today. Call 877-609-8889.
