Frequently Asked Questions

Were you bought or closed? No. Broadview University has not changed leadership and has not been sold. We are the same institution that has served students for over 30 years. We’ve simply outgrown our name, with new programs (including our new graduate degree, the Master of Science in Management) and new locations (now in Salt Lake City, for instance).

Is Broadview University accredited? Yes. Broadview University is accredited by Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). Our accrediting body is recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Why “Broadview University”? “Broadview” represents our vision of expanding horizons through education. And universities are traditionally known for offering a range of degrees and programs across a broad spectrum of disciplines, hence the change from “college” to “university.” Put the two together and you have our new name!

Will your programs change with the name? We will continue to offer the same programs. In addition, we will now offer our first graduate degree, the Master of Science in Management, and new business and legal programs. We have also added an entirely new field of study, entertainment arts (offered at our new Salt Lake City campus).
Who should I make my checks out to? Please begin making all checks out to Broadview University, as that is how financial institutions now recognize us.

I graduated from Utah Career College. Will I get a new transcript and diploma from Broadview University? If you graduated before June 2010, your transcript and diploma will continue to be from Utah Career College.

Should I change the name of my college on my resume? We suggest you change your resume to read “Broadview University, formerly Utah Career College.”

I enrolled in Utah Career College, and will graduate from Broadview University. What will my diploma and transcript say? This is your choice—the old name, the new name, or even both!

I recently enrolled at your school and the building sign still says Utah Career College—why does my registration say Broadview University? Our legal name is now Broadview University. During June and July we will be updating building signs and print materials, and in August we will officially roll out the new name.

Will credits transfer to and from Broadview University? Broadview University will continue to accept course-equivalent credits. As always, decisions on transferring credits from Broadview University to other institutions will be made by the receiving institutions.

What about federal and state financial aid? The name change will not affect your financial aid status. A financial aid representative will be happy to answer any questions about scholarships, loans and grants.

Will student and employee email addresses change? @students.utahcollege.edu and @utahcollege.edu email will work until December, 2010. Employees and students will be issued new email addresses, so be on the lookout for an announcement. We’ll help every step of the way. Our goal is zero technology problems during the transition!

Will employers know about the name change? Yes, we are busily working to inform employers and community partners of the name change, and to assure them our students are still receiving the high quality of training we have provided for over 30 years.
