Credit for Work Experience at UCC Online

At Utah Career College (UCC), our students often enroll after taking classes at other schools or after working in their chosen fields. We appreciate what students have accomplished and offer college credit for their prior learning and work experience.

To find out more about UCC and its credit policy, contact our online division at 877-609-8889. Speak with a representative to learn if your previous college classes, work experience or on-the-job training will count toward your degree.

College credit for experience

We recognize that professional experience is often as useful as formal classroom training. That’s why we give credit for qualified work and military experience. Of course, not all work experience qualifies, so we evaluate each request before awarding college credit for work experience that has the same level of difficulty as a college course.

Transfer credit

Students can submit official transcripts from other colleges to find out if their previous class work can be applied to their online degrees at UCC. We review factors such as the accreditation of the other college, the grade(s) received, whether the requested transfer related to a student’s UCC program and how much time has elapsed since the student completed the course.

Advanced standing credit

Students can demonstrate subject proficiency by taking advanced standing tests administered by the appropriate department. They can also provide documentation of Advanced Placement results from College Committee AP tests. In either case, each department evaluates an advanced standing request in light of the student’s performance on the test and whether the subject matter relates to the student’s program.

Credit for military training

UCC Online welcomes military students, We provide resources and scholarships just for veterans and their families and are a proud Servicemenbers’ Opportunity College (SOC). We also offer college credit for military training. We evaluate each request for military training credit in light of a student’s program. Contact our military services staff toll free at 1-877-410-0475 to learn more.

Save time and money with our college credit programs

A student who receives credit for work experience or prior learning may be able to reduce the number of classes he or she must complete at Utah Career College. This saves both time and money -- the student can complete a UCC program and get started on a career sooner. Receiving credit also saves money, as we do not charge tuition for courses for which a student received credit.
