Adult Learners at UCC Online

At Utah Career College (UCC) Online, we welcome adult students and the diverse experiences and knowledge that they bring to the classroom. Our degree programs open doors to career advancement and success in life. Contact UCC Online to learn more about becoming an adult student. Call us at 877-609-8889.

Many online learners have previous college experience

Many adult learners who take classes online are people who began college or university but did not complete their programs. A student may have needed to work, change jobs to a more demanding schedule or care for a child. Others may have had trouble in school because there was no support system in place. If you left college for one of those, or any other reason, UCC Online may be a great choice for you.

You may be able to get credit for your prior learning and experience

Students who have completed college courses, military instruction or work-related training may be eligible for credit for prior learning. They may also be able to obtain college credit for their work experiences. Our education department evaluates all requests for credit and can advise you about your individual situation. If students obtain credit for prior learning or work experience, they will save time and money – time spent completing classes and money spent on tuition. Unlike some schools, we do not charge tuition for external credits awarded toward an online degree at UCC.

Online college provides the flexibility returning students need

Most adult students work; many have full-time jobs that make attending a traditional college almost impossible. Working adults who attend UCC Online have the flexibility to take classes whenever and wherever they have Internet access — early mornings, late nights and on weekends. It means that they don’t have to drop out of school if their work schedules change. An online student can continue to earn a living.

Save time and money with online

Returning adults can save money on the cost of gas and other commuting costs. They can eliminate the cost of childcare. And they won’t spend time traveling to and from school; they can use this time instead for studying.

We prepare you to be successful

We know that it may have been a few years since you were in school. You may be concerned that you won’t be able to keep up, master the technology associated with online college or learn the names of your fellow-students. You’re not alone. To make sure that all students are at the right level of technical expertise, we require an orientation course to assess students’ readiness for online learning and provide them with skills that they need to succeed.
